Enough of this bull, i've got plenty of real projects to work on. I have been in the same boat myself more than once. If RAH annoys you too much, I highly recommend FAH. I have figured out its client by now, and it works reliably. And I think their science is now better than anything else, considering that Rosetta is doing the good stuff in-house. Have fun. |

If RAH annoys you too much, I highly recommend FAH. I have figured out its client by now, and it works reliably.I use it sometimes, their client is abysmal, less reliable and less configurable than Boinc (you can't even set a slot to remember if it was running or not after restart!). And if you dare to suggest an improvement they tell you to get lost. |

But yeah RAH, pfft....that's done for me after all these years. Never figured they would shit on their volunteers like this. |

I am using their web based program. I never knew about the PC based program. The Windows version is easy to set up, though it will try to use both CPU and GPU by default. You will have to remove one or the other type of slots if you don't want that one. The Linux version is a bit different, in that you have to change one of the default options to get the GPU to run. You remove the "gpu false" flag. https://foldingathome.org/alternative-downloads/?lng=en And be sure to set a password in order to get full credit. |

I am using their web based program. I never knew about the PC based program.I'm also doing WCG, but that needs a lot of pushing at the moment to get work from their antique server. I have my machines doing a project update every 5 minutes, and when I see stuck downloads I manually retry them 10 times. As for Folding, if you have more than one computer, you should try HFM. it's the same idea as Boinctasks, it lets you control all the computers from one window. |

The Windows version is easy to set up, though it will try to use both CPU and GPU by default. It may be easy to set up, but it's impossible to make it do what you want. When you reboot the computer for example, it forgets if it was running tasks or not, you can only set it to run or not run after startup. Also if you restart without pausing the tasks first, it often loses it's progress. |

I can reboot both Windows and Linux without problems. |

If you set it to finish and it finishes work and pauses it will forget that it was paused on reboot. You have to press pause button to make it remember. |

If you set it to finish and it finishes work and pauses it will forget that it was paused on reboot. You have to press pause button to make it remember. There is a setting for that, if you want it to remain paused: In Extra Core Options, you set "pause-on-start = true" |

There is a setting to always be paused on reboot, and a setting to always runon reboot, but no setting to "do the same as it was doing before the reboot". A basic item missing. If you set it to finish and it finishes work and pauses it will forget that it was paused on reboot. You have to press pause button to make it remember. |

I mainly use a third-party program, "HFM.NET" to control my Folding machines over the LAN. https://github.com/harlam357/hfm-net/releases If you set it to "Pause Slot", it will remember it upon reboot. |

I mainly use a third-party program, "HFM.NET" to control my Folding machines over the LAN.No it doesn't. I can pause or run any slot, live. A seperate setting controls what it does on reboot. So if I change to pause, I have to change both settings. |

It is the same setting for me, "Pause Slot". I am controlling Linux machines from Win10. |

It is the same setting for me, "Pause Slot".There are two settings for me, either controlling by the standard folding control program, or the third party HFM. I can pause or fold or stop a slot. That takes effect immediately, but is ignored on restart. There is the advanced setting "pause on start" which affects startup. I cannot change one thing to do both. They keep claiming there's a new version in the works, but we all know how long programmers take to finish their coffee. |

I just tried it on my Win10 machine, and it works there too. (Normally, I just use the FAH client.) But I paused the slot with HFM, and rebooted. It stayed paused. Do you have the latest version of HFM.NET? They have made some changes recently. Then, you just add that machine to HFM.NET, and right-click on it, and choose "Pause Slot". (It was a CPU slot. I did not try it on the GPU.) It has been long-requested on the Folding forum, and yes they are very slow. |

How does your folding client start? My starts with "E:program files (x86)FAHClientHideConsole.exe" "e:Program Files (x86)FAHClientFAHClient.exe" --client-type=advanced link in C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup |

I just tried it on my Win10 machine, and it works there too. (Normally, I just use the FAH client.)Now start the slot and reboot. It might have just been set to pause on start. That's what I find, a different setting controls what it will do at startup. Another problem I have which they have admitted to in the forum is if you reboot or shut down windows, Folding doesn't close cleanly and can lose your entire task. I always have to pause them before restarting. I have the latest 10.0.1937 of HFM according to the "check for updates" within the app. Folding is 7.6.21 which is the latest according to the joining up page at https://foldingathome.org/start-folding/ |

I assume "--client-type=advanced" in your link just causes the advanced window to open? |
