I want to delete my account, and I can not find how to do, can you add this important function? It's not normal not to be able to delete your account! Thank you in advance. |

It’s not really possible to delete an account, because of long-established assumptions in the BOINC server software about its ability to preserve everybody’s contributions over the lifetime of a project. The closest you can get is to change or remove any of the ‘other account info’ (display name, country, etc.) you have entered in your account and do not want to remain visible, delete your profile, change your e-mail address to a throwaway one you never access again, and remove the project from your BOINC client. See the thread How to "delete" your own BOINC user account |

I thank you for your response, but I consider that unacceptable, whatever the reasons for justifying it. As a result, I would no longer participate in any BOINC project of any kind, until this idiotic policy has changed. |

When I say “not really possible” I actually mean “not easy or practical for most projects”. Of course it can be done; I imagine it’s just technically difficult because of the way the project databases are constructed. World Community Grid allows you to delete your account, presumably due to the substantial dose of lawyer paranoia that project has had from IBM. (That’s assuming you agree to the lengthy terms of use they impose on you to create an account there in the first place…) |

As a result, I would no longer participate in any BOINC project of any kind, until this idiotic policy has changed. Why? Why not just do work for projects that do comply with the EU's GDPR requirements? Grant Darwin NT |
