When the project went https, and BOINC recommended switching over, I somehow wound up creating a second account with my e-mail address. My proper account is ID 2118260, the second "zombie" account is ID 2154952. I can't log into the zombie account, password is lost or not working. I am concerned that if I attempt to reset the password for the zombie account, I will only wind up corrupting the proper account because the e-mail address is the same. Why is this a problem? Why not simply abandon the zombie account? On one of my hosts, the BOINC client insists on attaching to the zombie account, even though I am entering the username/password of the proper account! Is there something I need to clear in BOINC to attach to the proper account? Can I somehow use a User ID# in place of the e-mail address? Am I always going to be screwed because my e-mail address appears twice in Rosetta's database? Don't want to be critical, here, but why does Rosetta even permit duplicate username/e-mail addresses to exist? I assume the User ID is unique, but there's no way to use it, is there? |

While I cannot disagree with your other points, they are outside of my control. But, I can tell you this... You can attach to a BOINC project using a specific user account by using the weak account key. Signon to the website using the desired account, then go to the account keys section of your profile, weak account key. Once you have the weak key, the page describes briefly ways you can use it. The full description is here. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
