My boss is reaching out to see if anyone is doing anything related to the Covid-19 situation. I am not sure how to describe volunteering machines to rosetta@home? Here's what I came up with: I volunteered three of my personal raspberry pi computers to join the Rosetta@home project . This project harnesses volunteer computing power to predict the structure of proteins important to the COVID-19 disease as well as to produce new, stable mini-proteins to be used as potential therapeutics and diagnostics. |

R@h has always been studying proteins, and protein interactions. The COVID stuff is obviously new. But it is not all the project does. So I like how simply you've condensed it down, but it now implies that COVID is all that is being worked on, which is not correct. I like to think of Rosetta as a tool. And BakerLab is constantly working to improve the tool. They make this tool available to researchers all over the world (see rosettacommons). And they are not for profit. Always good to point out that it runs in the background at lowest priority. If you have time, showing a protein in fold.it would be ideal. Or, showing the R@h screensaver. You might also point them to the Ted Talk by Dr. David Baker. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
